She obtained her Bachelor's degree (1999-2003, under the Singapore Ministry of Education SM2 Full Scholarship) and direct Ph.D. (2003-2007, under the Ministry of Education Full Scholarship) from Nanyang Technological University. From 2008 to 2018, she served as the team leader in optics, precision measurement group at the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (A*STAR). During 2016 to 2019, she concurrently held positions as Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore. In 2019, she was selected for the National Young Talent Program and returned to work full-time as a professor at Beihang University. Her research focuses on high-brightness laser light sources and optical spectroscopy technologies. Yu's group is recruiting excellent Master/Ph.D. students, and postdoctoral researchers. Description of Research Group:2008至2018年，在新加坡科技研究局(A*STAR)工作期间，余霞作为独立项目人，建立了自己的实验室。独立开展了基于特种光纤的高灵敏度光谱传感以及高功率激光器的研发工作，先后培养硕士博士生近十名。2019年回国后，余霞持续在激光光学领域培养人才。
