Riwu Yao, Associate Research Fellow at the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University. He received his Ph.D. from Zhejiang University. His primary research interests include high-performance non-metallic composite pipelines, hydrogen transport pipelines, structural health monitoring (SHM) technology for composite materials/structures, and the characterization and regulation of micro-to-macro structural properties of fiber-reinforced composites.

Dr. Yao has led several national and provincial projects, including the Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the General Program of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, the Exploratory Project of the Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province, and sub-tasks of the Key R&D Program of Shandong Province. He has also participated as a core member in multiple national and provincial research initiatives. Over the past five years, he has published more than 10 high-level SCI/EI papers as the first or corresponding author, including ESI Highly Cited Papers, journal cover papers, and international academic conference paper awards. He has applied for and been authorized for over 20 invention patents, including 6 international patents. As a major contributor, he has received awards such as the First Prize in Technical Invention from the China Instrument and Control Society (ranked 3rd) and the Second Prize for Outstanding Research Results in National Intellectual Property Soft Science Projects. He serves as a Youth Editorial Board Member of Frontiers in Structural Integrity (China Structural Integrity Consortium), a Senior Member of the China Instrument and Control Society, a Youth Member of the Equipment Structural Health Monitoring and Warning Branch, the Secretary-General of the Special Committee on Intelligent Health Monitoring of Special Equipment, and a Director of the Special Equipment Industry-Education Integration Academy. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for several international authoritative journals, such as the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.
