Hongliang Shi is a professor in the Department of Physics at Beihang University. His research focuses on understanding the relationships between the structure of materials and their properties at the level of atoms and electrons based on density functional theory, and aims to use this understanding to find or design new higher performance materials for various applications. His research field is the semiconductor physics theory, including semiconductor electronic structure, semiconductor defect physics, polaron physics, excited state dynamics, electron-phonon coupling and lattice anharmonicity. The materials he is interested are electronic materials, optoelectronic materials, luminescent materials and thermoelectric materials.
