Xiaolei Qu, born in 1984, is currently an Associate Professor and PhD Supervisor at Beihang University. He received his B.S. degree in Software Engineering from the School of Software, Xi’an Jiaotong University, in 2007, and his M.S. degree in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems from the Institute of Image Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, in 2009. During his master’s study, he focused on the detection, tracking, and recognition of dim and small infrared targets.

In 2012, he received his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Tokyo, where his doctoral research focused on medical ultrasound imaging and medical image processing. During his Ph.D. study, he worked as a visiting intern in the Department of Imaging Physics at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in the United States in 2011, where he conducted research on breast imaging methods based on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

After completing his Ph.D., he joined Samsung Techwin Japan Research Center in Fukuoka as a Senior Engineer, where he was primarily engaged in image processing and image recognition algorithms. From June 2014 to March 2017, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The University of Tokyo, focusing on medical ultrasound tomography algorithms and ultrasound therapy monitoring.

In April 2017, he joined Beihang University and is currently with the Department of Measurement and Control Technology, School of Instrumentation and Optoelectronic Engineering. His research focuses primarily on AI-based image analysis and ultrasound imaging, with an emphasis on the integration of artificial intelligence and advanced imaging technologies, as well as the development of imaging systems, image analysis algorithms, and intelligent diagnostic methods.

He has been selected for the Beihang University “Excellent Hundred” Talent Program and the Young Talent Program, and was also recognized as a Gusu Leading Talent in Innovation and Entrepreneurship by Suzhou. He has led multiple national-level research projects, including JWK projects and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects, and has participated in several national-level research programs, including the National Key R&D Program of China. He has published more than 40 academic papers, including papers in leading journals in the field of artificial intelligence, and has filed more than 10 invention patents.
