MORE+Guo Zixu, Professor (tenure-track), Beihang University. He received his Bachelor's degree (2013–2017) and Ph.D. (2017–2022) from the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Beihang University, and served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (2022–2026). He was selected for the Overseas High-Level Young Talent Program and has received multiple honors and awards, including the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the First and Second Prizes (ranked 1st) in the U.S. Additive Manufacturing Benchmarking Challenge (NIST AM Bench). He currently leads a Youth Talent Project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and participates in major national research projects in both China and Singapore.
He has long been engaged in research on metal microscale mechanics, additive manufacturing, and aerospace intelligent structures. His primary academic contributions are summarized in three aspects:
1. Proposed a dislocation storage damage factor based on slip system partitioning, overcoming the accuracy limitations of scalar damage indicators such as dissipative energy.
2. Engineered "positive/negative cosine" gradient microstructures at dendritic regions in additively manufactured single-crystal superalloys, achieving high-temperature “self-amplifying” strengthening–toughening and "on-demand" property tailoring.
3. Developed an efficient multi-physics computational framework for cooled turbine blades based on classical physics modules, and established an intelligent optimization algorithm-driven methodology for designing long-lifetime arrays of numerous film-cooling holes.
As first author (including co-first authorship), he has published in high-impact interdisciplinary journals including Nature Communications (Featured Article, Nat. Commun.), Materials Science and Engineering: R Reports (Impact Factor: 26.8), and Advanced Science (Cover Article), as well as flagship journals in materials, mechanical engineering, and mechanics: Acta Materialia, International Journal of Plasticity (5 papers), and Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids. In total, he has published 34 SCI-indexed papers, including 2 cover articles, 3 ESI Highly Cited Papers, and 6 highly downloaded papers from Elsevier and Wiley. His work has been highlighted on the official website of the National University of Singapore.
