Liyan Xu, associate professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Transportation Science and Engineering, Beihang University.

Dr. Xu received his Ph.D. in civil engineering from Tsinghua University in 2017. He is currently an associate professor and the deputy head of Civil Engineering Department, Beihang University. Also, he is committee member of Wind Power Structure Branch of China Steel Structure Association and associate member of American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE). 

Dr. Xu's research interests include steel-concrete composite structures, seismic resistance and disaster mitigation for civil engineering and intelligent analysis method for engineering structures.

He presides over 10 government sponsored research projects, including the general project sponsored by NSFC (National Natural Science Foundation of China), the sub-project sponsored by National Key Research and Development Program of China, the special grant sponsored by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and so forth. He has published over 30 academic journal papers, including 20 SCI retrieval international journal papers (quartiles in category Q1 or Q2), and participated in the compilation of one work and one specification. His achievements have been directly applied to more than 10 practical projects, including the Qingdao Mixc Mall, Nanning Long-Guang Century Building, Shenzhen Metro Songgang depot, Qingdao airport Expressway overpass bridge and others.

He was awarded the First Prize among the National Science and Technology Progress Awards in 2020 (Ranked 6th in 10), First Prize among the National Science and Technology Progress Awards in 2018 (Innovative Team, Ranked 13th in 14), Special Prize among Science and Technology Award of China Steel Structure Association in 2019 (Ranked 4th in 20), Liu Huixian Earthquake Engineering Award granted by the US-China Earthquake Engineering Foundation in 2017, Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow of Tsinghua University in 2019 and Excellent Ph.D. Graduate of Beijing in 2017. He was elected in the youth talent support program of Beihang University in 2021, and the youth talent promotion program of China highway and transportation society in 2022.
