Profile
Kangwen Sun received his B.Eng. Degree in Material forming and Control Engineering from North China Institute of Technology, Taiyuan, China, in 2003, and PH.D. Degree in Aircraft Design from Beihang University (BUAA), Beijing, China, in 2009. He was an academic visitor at the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing, Cranfield University from December 2017 to December 2018. He is currently an associate professor at the School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering, Beihang University. His main research areas are: the overall design and performance evaluation of solar air vehicle, the optimal configuration of solar energy system and self-management technology. He applied for 26 national invention patents (15 of which had authorized, 5 of which have been transformed). And he also has published more than 30 papers (including 12 SCI papers, 15 EI papers, one excellent paper of 2016 China Aerospace Vehicle Congress).
At present, he is one of the keynote teachers of the national top quality curriculum "Aircraft Design" and the teacher of the "Aircraft Airworthiness Foundation". He has instructed students to achieve many achievements in the solar-powered aircraft technology competition. He has been selected as the 21st and 24th "Feng Ru bei" Outstanding Instructor, the First Prize Instructor of the 7th and 9th "National Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Competition" respectively, the First Prize Instructor of "the 3rd China Graduate Future Aircraft Innovation Competition", and the third "China Aviation Industry Cup" International Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Innovation Competition Creative Awards Instructor.
