Yan Xu is a Professor with the School of Electronic and Information Engineering at Beihang University. Before joining Beihang, he was a Senior Lecturer in ATM/CNS, with the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing at Cranfield University (United Kingdom). He was the Course Director of newly established MSc in Advanced Air Mobility Systems (AAMS), also leading the Air Traffic Management Laboratory based in the Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC). He conducted postdoc research with the same school as a Research Fellow in UAS Traffic Management. Prior to joining Cranfield University, he received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Science and Technology from Technical University of Catalonia (Spain), and received his M.Sc. and B.Eng. in Traffic Engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (China). He performed a visiting study in early 2017 at the Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (France). His main research interests include air traffic management, UAS traffic management and Urban Air Mobility. He has been involved in various research projects in these areas funded by EU SESAR and UK Future Flight Programmes.
