Profile

Dr. Elsayed Ali Ibrahim Barakat is an Associate Professor specializing in Thermal Fluids and Multiphase Flow, with a research focus on advanced thermal management strategies for gas turbine engines, hybrid eVTOL aircraft, and aero-propulsion systems. He received his Ph.D. in Thermal Fluid Dynamics Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2023, where his doctoral research centered on spray cooling technologies for micro gas turbines and power generation systems, aiming to enhance overall system efficiency and operational reliability.

Dr. Barakat's research integrates cutting-edge experimental diagnostics, including Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD), with high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. This combined approach enables systematic investigation of the complex coupling mechanisms among spray dynamics, turbulent flow, and combustion processes. He has published more than 17 papers in leading international journals, including Energy Conversion and Management, Fuel, Energy, Applied Thermal Engineering, and Physics of Fluids. His current research extends to the development of next-generation hybrid eVTOL systems, where he leverages machine learning for predictive modeling and performance optimization, contributing to the advancement of sustainable and intelligent low-altitude transportation.
