With Fluid Mechanic and Power Machinery as the education background, his main interest has been the development and application of high-fidelity numerical tools for turbulent combustion in various engines, i.e. diesel spray combustion in the internal combustion engines, supersonic combustion in the scramjet engines, and the swirling combustion in the gas-turbine engines. Research targets include turbulence-chemistry interactions, flame propagation, emission control, wall heat load, plasma-assisted ignition, AI for thermal physics (PINN and DeepONet), etc. He is a reviewer for international journals such as Physics of Fluids, Flow, Turbulence and Combustion, Fuel, Energy and AI, etc.
