Background

SONG Lei is an aviation enthusiast since his childhood and is a Private Pilot Lisence holder of EASA. He particular interests in aircraft multi-disciplinary design optimization with aerodynamic, stealth and stability, subscale model flight test and flight simulation. He has accumulated various theoretical and engineering profession experience in the field of aircraft design, aerodynamic software development and application practice, aircraft stealth technology, and mechanical design.

SONG Lei served as a major researcher for the leading technology research project in Chinese 12th Five-Year Plans and 13th Five-Year Plan. Currently he is taking charge in research program sponsored by National Natural Science Funds for Young Scholar as well as numerous projects funded by aviation industry.

Education Activities

SONG Lei currently teaches Principles of Flight, Introduction of Aeronautic and Astronautic, and Aircraft Conceptual Design to bachelor students. He has become the academic advisor of Beihang aeromodelling team since 2019. The team has won the Championship of SAE Aero Design West 2019 California, USA, succeed the best score in both SAE Aero Design West and SAE Aero Design East in 2019. 

Social Service

SONG Lei keeps his passionate in popularization of Science for many years. He published numbers of article in People's Daily, Aerospace Knowledge, Model Airplane, Aviation World and etc. He helped Beijing No.35 High School to accomplished their Aeronautic Laboratory scheme design and curriculum development. In recent years. He has honored Distinguished Instructor in High School Student Science Education for many times.
