Xiaolei Qu, born in 1984, is currently an Associate Professor and PhD advisor at Beihang University (BUAA). In 2007, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from the School of Software, Xi'an Jiaotong University. In 2009, he obtained a Master's degree in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems from the Institute of Image Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where his research focused on the detection, tracking, and recognition of weak infrared targets. In 2012, he completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tokyo, with research interests in medical ultrasound imaging and medical image processing. During his PhD studies, he interned at the Imaging Physics Department of MD Anderson Cancer Center (ranked as the top cancer hospital in the U.S.) in 2011, focusing on breast imaging methods using cone beam CT. After earning his PhD, he worked as a Senior Engineer at the Samsung Techwin Research Center in Fukuoka, Japan, where he was responsible for research on image processing and image recognition algorithms. From June 2014 to March 2017, he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Tokyo, concentrating on medical ultrasound computed tomography imaging algorithms and ultrasound therapy monitoring methods. In April 2017, he returned to China to join the School of Instrument and Optoelectronic Engineering, Beihang University. His current research focuses on image recognition and ultrasound imaging. He has led several national-level projects, including the JWK Project and National Natural Science Foundation projects, and has participated in multiple national projects, including those funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology. He has published over 40 academic papers in top journals in the field of artificial intelligence and has applied more than 10 invention patents.
